Description
Lymphatic massage or manual lymphatic drainage is a superficial massage that affects the skin and subcutaneous tissues; it stimulates the flow of lymph fluid and stimulates the removal of residues from the body, relaxes and relieves muscle tension, has a positive effect in case of edemas, circulatory problems and metabolic illnesses. Lymphatic massage is used to treat lower extremity veins, edema caused by lymphatic drainage, to mitigate pregnancy-induced edema, during extensive surgery (including tumors) and post-traumatic periods. The lymph is massaged with hands in the direction of its flow. Movements are light, spiral, circular and pumping. Lymphatic massage should not cause pain or redness of the skin.
Main indications: acne, acne vulgaris, swelling of the face and eye area, scar treatment, pre and post treatment of plastic surgery, hair loss, migraine; immune system, its strengthening, rheumatic diseases, joint diseases, connective tissue diseases, gout, swelling during pregnancy, secondary and primary lymphatic edemas, lipidosis, lipoedema, swellings due to varicose veins, trauma
Contraindications: thrombosis, heart failure, tumors, severe kidney disease, acute inflammatory processes; caution is needed in case of low blood pressure, goitre, asthma, big birthmarks.
